3 confirmed dead, 40 trapped after Breman mining pit collapse at Upper Denkyira West District

At least three persons have died and 40 more trapped after Breman mining pit collapsed. The tragic incident occurred at Upper Denkyira West District according to JoyNews. The illegal mining (galamsey) pit collapsed, killing three on the spot, with about 40 still trapped.

Police officers and National Disaster and management Organization, NADMO were all present at the illegal mining site to ascertain the actual cause of this tragic incident.
Narrating her story, mother of a young man explained how her son lost his life. She revealed to JoyNews that she actually told her son not to go but he insisted and told her if he didn’t, there will be no food at home so he actually have no option and besides, his father too is under the weather. Few hours later, she heard of his son’s demise.
President Nana Akufo-Addo has vowed to fight galamsey before his tenure ends. Soldiers and other security officials have been deployed in mining areas. So far, some machines of these galamseyers have been burnt.
