9 year old Nigerian gold medalist, Deborah Quickpen now Africa’s Youth Chess Champion

Ngerian youngest gold medalist, Deborah Quickpen has been crowned Africa’s Youth Chess champion.

Quickpen who is only 9 years old has emerged as the only youngest African to have reached such a milestone. Deborah who hails from Bayelsa State amassed 8.0 points 2 beat Tunisian Hasnaoui Abra in er 9th game.

Deborah was the youngest athlete in National Sports Festival in the history of Nigeria in 2018 when she was only 6 years old. She was number one in West Africa and number seven in U8 at the 2019 Africa Chess Championship.
