Narrating his story, Mohammed Abubakar told Daily Trust he nearly gave up at a point but he kept moving forward. “But I was able to weather the storm and here we are today”

According to Captain Mohammed Abubakar, his journey of becoming a pilot began after his Senior High School and went to Kaduna to buy forms to continue his education But he couldn’t get the admission because he went very late. He later got himself a job because he could not stay ideal and was paid as lower as 0.50 cent per day but.

“I was doing Hajj operation, and I was earning N200 per day, even though many believed that I wouldn’t do it because of the meager money involved. I was later employed as a ground staff with the airline in Maiduguri. Through my serving the company, I worked in almost all the units except security. That helped me a lot in the aviation sector” he said when he was interviewed years ago.

From there, Captain Mohammed Abubakar got another job as a cabin crew member after an excellent interview he had in Kaduna where he served Kabo Air for eight years. Here his money increased to his surprise. Now he was earning $41 per day to his surprise. And to him, he thought money was paid into his account mistakingly but was later told that was his money.

Captain Abubakar later narrates how one of his bosses helped him finishing his piloting course in Canada when his money he contributed was enough for the programme.

“I joined a contribution system with my colleagues, and when it was my turn to collect the accumulated funds, there was a sizeable amount of money so I went to the managing director and sought his advice on my dream of training as a pilot. He was so happy and supported me. That’s how I managed to sponsor myself for my private pilot licence in Canada, which marked my take off as an Aircraft pilot” he said.
