Black American singer, R. Kelly convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking, faces 20years in prison.

“R.Kelly has been found guilty of being the ringleader of a decades long scheme to recruit women and underage girls for sex. The verdict represents the first criminal consequence for the singer after decades of accusations of sexual abuse” The New York Times reports. The jury found him guilty of racketeering in a sex abuse and trafficking case. The popular singer has been found guilty for masterminding a scheme that recruits and sexually abuse boys, women and girls decades ago.

Acting United States Attorney from Eastern District of New York, Jacqueline Kasulis pronounced him guilty, citing that the singer used his “fame and fortune to prey on the young, the vulnerable and the voiceless for his own sexual gratification”

“Today’s guilty verdict forever brands R. Kelly as a predator, who used his fame and fortune to prey on the young, the vulnerable and the voiceless for his own gratification. R. Kelly is a predator who used his inner circle to ensnare underage girls and young men and women for decades, in a sordid web of sex abuse, exploitation and humiliation” Kasulis said.

She went on to console victims and also applauding them for their courage shown as they narrate their stories as evidence for the world to know the truth.
