Captain Smart’s former boss, CEO of Angel Group Dr Kweku Oteng honoured by Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA for paying taxes
Chief Executive Officer of Angel Group of companies, Dr. Kweku Oteng has been honoured for payment of tax. The CEO recieved a plaque from head of Ashanti Area Ghana Revenue Authority, Samuel Sakyi Duodu.
According to Sakyi Duodu, the award is in quest to encourage his company and all other companies to pay taxes.
“we are pleased to honour the Angel group because through the payment of their excise taxes and VAT, the Ashanti Area nearly hit our revenue targets in the year 2020. We want to encourage Dr Kweku oteng and other business owners to keep the government to realize more revenue to develop the country” Mr Duodu told the CEO.
Mr Duodu used that moment to clear speculations of his company evading tax.
“all those are allegations borne out of sheer ignorance; how can I be running such a big business and fail to pay taxes and expect that Ghana the Ghana Revenue Authority would not come after me. I have been paying taxes to the government of Ghana for the past 30years, so it is ridiculous for anybody to say that i have not been paying my taxes” Dr Oteng said
Ghana Revenue Authority chased businesses across the country for evading taxes. Some big businesses, especially oil companies were closed down for not paying taxes. Some haven’t paid close to 2years or over more.
