Thomas Tuchel is more interested in signing defenders this season than strikers according to reports
Reports reaching News247gh.com can confirm that Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has rejected the signing of Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo
There have been several reports of the Manchester United legend joining Chelsea this season but that is not likely to manifest because Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has a different approach this season.
Thomas Tuchel is more interested in signing defenders as per renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano. As of now, Napoli defender Koulibaly is set to be announced as a Chelsea player. He’s expected to be the perfect replacement for Antonio Rudiger who left the club for Real Madrid this season. Manchester City winger, Raheem Sterling was also unveiled last week.
Though Chelsea’s new chairman Todd Boehly developed interest in him, Thomas has to make the final decision.
“Thomas Tuchel has decided against Cristiano Ronaldo signing as things stand. Jorge Mendes had talks with Todd Boehly but final decision has always been up to the manager. Chelsea are now focused on different deals. Tuchel isn’t keen on signing Cristiano” Fabrizio Romano posted on twitter.
It may also be possible the coach does not want to work with a striker who will soon be 38. You may argue Thiago Silva is also 37. But both players are completely different as they play different positions on the pitch.
