Gov’t of Ghana has asked Ghanaians to donate Ghs100 every month towards National Cathedral construction

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Ken ofori Atta has disclosed that the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo has a plan to socilit for funds towards National Cathedral construction.

Mr ken Ofori Atta, revealed that it would be in a form of donation, an amount of Ghs100 which will be donated every month to help build the Cathedral. He made the announcement when he was delivering the mid year budget review on Thursday July 29. He also disclosed that the National Cathedral will be completed and commissioned on 6th March 2024.

“work on the National Cathedral is progressing speedily and following the programme of the contractor. The National Cathedral is expected to be officially commissioned on March 6, 2024. Upon completion, the National Cathedral will provide a space for formal religious activities of state and symbolize the enormous contribution of faith to nation building. This state and church partnership envisaged by the president to develop the National Cathedral is on course. An initiative; the Ghs100 a month also dubbed ‘ketoa biaa nsua’ will be launched by the trustees of the National Cathedral on August 12, 2021 to give as many Ghanaians as possible the opportunity to be part of the history of the National Cathedral” He stated

This caught the attention of many Ghanaian influencers and social media users. To some, it is very unnecessary to even build a National Cathedral when there is hospital and huge accommodation deficit the government must tackle.

But the government is very prepared for this initiative. A code has already been generated by telcos and some IT firms so people who want to donate can send their monies there
