Vasy Lomachenko beats Richard Commey to win Lightweight title. He floored Commey at Madison Square Garden in New York to win the title by a unanimous decision.

“I fight for my country, I fight for my people. I let them down but I believe I’m gonna come back stronger. When I dropped down I just took my eyes off him and that’s it. I could’ve stayed focused all along and it is what it is. He’s a great fighter and I did what I have to do. I’m proud of my people. I fought for them and I love them so much. I feel I’m the only one representing them now. I thank God I’m not hurt, I’m good” Richard Commey told Sky Sports after the fight.

“The ambition is still the same. I wanna be a true time world champion and as far as my people believe in me, I will always represent them” he said

Andre Rozier, Commey’s trainer believe he still has what it takes to be a world champion. According to him, he didn’t want him to lose his reputation and diligence so he encouraged him to continue the fight even when Lomachenko dropped him at tye 7th round.

“Lomachenko is a great champion and when he signaled the light to stop him, for me to take his pride and dignity away would have been a horrible thing to do. I told Richard to get up and let’s get it together, try not to make any mistake and keep working and you see he did go the entire 12 rounds and he fought harder” he said.

Lomachenko revealed this fight was a door opener and his win is a prove he can equally beat any world champion, and he’s very ready for any fight.
