Mohammed Salisu has decided to play for Ghana

There have several controversies surrounding Mohammed Salisu as the player allegedly blame Ghana Black Stars officials for denying him call-up years ago but its all in the past now

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has decided to play for Ghana Black Stars according to reports.

News published by JoyNews confirm the Southampton centre back is ready to play for the senior team. Mohammed Salisu had earlier said he was not ready for any call-up. He told GFA officials they will surely here from him whenever he’s ready. But that readiness never happened in the last two years GFA have been chasing him.

According to JoyNews, all former three coaches of Ghana Black Stars had an encounter with him but he couldn’t not give them any promising feedback. On some occasions, the player told GFA he was not in good shape.

“I will be so happy to play for my country, to play for Ghana, the national team. But I think this is not the right moment to play for the national team. I think I need to focus on the club side because I always young, I think I have to focus on the club first and then after when everything is fine, I can go and play for Ghana” Salisu told Kenyan media, MozzartSports.

But now the wait is over as the GFA exclusively told JoySports the player is over for future call-ups. GFA President flew to UK to meet him and he has given him his word to play according to JoyNews.

His Coach Ralph Hassenhuttl believe Mohammed Salisu has so many potentials to shine in European football going forward. After all he’s only 23years, and has so much ahead of him.

“Mohammed is a player who fits our profile well. He’s young and has a great amount of potential, but he is someone who also has the qualities to come in and help the team as soon as he is up to speed our way of playing” he said, cited by JoyNews.

Salisu playing for Ghana Black Stars is big booster for the senior team because he’s undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the Premier league. Other players have also pledged to join Ghana Black Stars. And all these star players are likely to play the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
