An oil tanker explosion has killed at least 92 people in Sierra Leone, leaving many others with injuries. Sad news reaching News247gh.com gives account of an oil tanker explosion in Sierra Leone. The tragic incident leaves a lot of people with injuries while others have been burnt to ashes.

The explosion is said to have taken place in Wellington, a suburb close to Freetown. Eye witness said people rushed to the tanker to get some fuel while it leaked but unfortunately, it exploded.

“A truck lost control and run into the tanker so a lot of people rushed to scoop the oil. There was a huge traffic in the process. The people who died actually died in the tanker” an eye witness told BBC

Sierra Leone government is yet to disclose the death toll but reports from the mortuary at Connaught Hospital says 92 people have died so far and are in the morgue. While over 100 casualties have been admitted in hospitals across the capital city and are receiving treatment. Reports say about 30 people have been burnt beyond recognition.
