Roman Abramovich has given up control of Chelsea Chelsea football club

Russian billionaire and owner of Chelsea Football Club, Roman Abramovich has given up control of the club. Roman Abramovich is said to have a ‘father like’ relationship with Vladimir Putin. There have been tensions on him for all his assets to he seized by the UK government after Putin ordered Russian troops to invade Ukraine.

A United Kingdom Member of Parliament has accused Roman Abramovich of engaging in some “corrupt deals” with Putin. He has allegedly been in involved in “buying political influence”. The law maker said there are documents to prove that. He’s therefore calling for him to he stopped from living in the Britain, and all his assets seized, Including Chelsea. Abramovich released a statement saying he’s still the owner of the club because he loves the club. He has been the owner for 19years.

“I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC” He said in a statement.

“During my nearly 20year ownership of Chelsea fc, I have always viewed my role as a custodian of the club, whose job it is ensuring that we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future, while also playing a positive role in our communities” he said.

He believes the Foundation is capable of running affairs of the club.

“I believe that currently they are in the best position to look after the interest of the club, players, staff and fans” Chelsea posted on their official Facebook page.
