Samuel L. Jackson to receive 53rd chairman’s award at NAACP image award

BET had announced that actor and producer, Samuel L. Jackson, will be given an award for the prestigious Chairman’s Award during the 53rd NAACP image which will be held this upcoming Sunday in Los Angeles.
The Chairman’s Award is given in honor of people who demonstrate outstanding public service and use their respective platforms to establish agents of change.

Samuel L. Jackson’s skill and celebrity stability have motivated generations and continue to raise the bar for all of Hollywood.

The ‘Pulp Fiction’ actor Samuel L. Jackson discloses he has no issue sitting down and watching one of his personal films, as he even owns a top-five list of his performances.
According to Leon W Russell, chairperson of the NAACP national board of directors accepts that the “Shaft” star is certainly suited for the award because of his impact and contribution to the film industry.
Russell said:
“Many might not know that prior to his acting career, Jackson was a staunch activist during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s, even serving as an usher at Martin Luther King jr’s funeral. His continued public service and advocacy for social change make him an excellent recipient for the Chairman’s Award, ”
These are the names of the people who have received the award including the late US Congressman John Lewis and Ruby Dee, Danny Glover, Rev. James Lawson, Tyler Perry, Barack Obama, Congresswoman, Maxine Waters, and ex Surgeon General Regina Benjamin.
