Saudi Arabia executes 81 people in a single day after they have been convicted of crimes ranging from killings, rape and other crimes. The 81 people who were beheaded were also linked to terrorist organizations.
The execution is said to be the largest in the country’s modern history.
“The number of executed surpassed even the toll of a January 1980 mass execution for the 63 militants convicted of seizing the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979, the worst ever militant attack to target the kingdom and Islam’s holiest site” AP reports.
The 81 men includes a Syrian and seven Yemenis. They were beheaded on Saturday, 12 March 2022 according to Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry.
“These individuals totalling 81 were convicted of various crimes including murdering innocent men, women and children”

Those executed also include 37 Saudi Arabia nationals who were found guilty in a single case for targeting convoys and police stations, and attempting to assassinate security officials according to the statement.
“crimes committed by these individuals also include pledging alliance to terrorist organizations, such as ISIS (Islamic State), Al Qaeda and the houthis” the statement said as disclosed by Reuters
