We will not succumb to Ecowas pressure which will allow President Alpha Conde to seek exile – Guinea junta to Ecowas

Guinea’s junta led by Colonel Mamady Doumbouya said it will not succumb to pressure to allow President Alpha Conde to seek exile.

Ecowas chairman, President Nana Akufo-Addo who is the President of the Republic of Ghana and President of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara met in Guinea’s capital, Conakry on friday, where they had a meeting with coup plotters led by Colonel Mamady Doumbouya. Deposed President Alpha Conde had earlier vowed to never bowed to these coup plotters. It is alleged that they wanted him to sign, pledging he has stepped down but the former President insists until he dies, he will never do that. The military has detained him since September 5 after he reformed the constitution to suit his third term in office last year. He was toppled by his own military who ousted him from after 10years in office. “we will not yield to any pressure” Colonel Mamady and his team revealed but President Nana Akufo-Addo said they had a very fruitful meeting with the soldiers and Alpha Conde, noting that Guinea and Ecowas will have a very good relationship going forward.

“I think that Ecowas and Guinea are going to do well together, we had a very frank, fraternal discussion” with Mamady Doumbouya and his soldiers. The Ecowas chairman revealed.
